Are these the best ways to find a great apartment let's say in Paris for a few months? Probably not, those sites are geared towards rentals of a few days, maybe a few weeks max.

Well, were to turn you ask? There is always craigslist, but with amount of spam and scams, probably not your best. You could always search local sites or try a local Realtor, but your looking to save some cash and we now that rental agents in the big cities rake you over the coals on commissions and fees.

Well, I found a better solution, it's called Renterly.com and it is aimed at the customer who specifically need a apartment for the 1-6 month range. Flats are added by there staff and locals with rooms to rent, flats to sublet or whole apartments to lease. Best things is Renterly is free to use for both Leasee and Leasors.
So if your relocation to Berlin, Kansas City or even the Middle East, there is a pretty good chance you'ss find that perfect apartment rental on Renterly.com
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053452346017449927.post-7116970751396775682010-02-17T09:50:00.000-08:002010-02-17T09:52:52.017-08:00Enterprise Car Rental Deals

Enterprise in offering $9.99 a Day weekend Rentals. The advantages are definite: the Caribbean is an easy destination to reach, and with its tropical climate of perpetual summer, its picturesque islands, and its wild diversity of cultures, there are few places in the world that can offer as much as the Caribbean.

From North America, most Caribbean cruises start in south Florida, a logical place, as there are several ports capable of accommodating the largest cruise ships, and the state is very close to the Caribbean. In fact, for some cruise lines, Caribbean cruises will include South Florida and the Bahamas Islands, even though these areas are technically outside the Caribbean Sea. They are close to it, however, and share the same climate and much of the same attitude.

You'll want to check with your cruise line, to see what Caribbean cruise packages are available. The Caribbean is a large area, stretching some 2000 miles from Mexico in the northwest to the island of Barbados in the east, and most cruise packages will only cover part of the total area. Some common cruise options are the Eastern Caribbean, covering the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico, the Southern Caribbean, covering the Dutch Antilles and the adjacent areas of South America, and the Western Caribbean, covering southeastern Mexico, Central America, and Jamaica.

Each of these areas has its own set of attractions. Younger travelers, especially honeymooners, are frequently drawn to the party atmosphere of Jamaica, or Cozumel, Mexico. Many older cruise-goers particularly enjoy the relaxed culture of the small islands of the Eastern Caribbean. Whatever your preference, make sure that you try the shore excursions offered on your Caribbean cruise : they're the best way to get the full feel of the area, and an unforgettable experience.

Whichever part of the Caribbean you choose to cruise, make sure that you pack your passport. You'll be crossing a lot of international boundaries, and while the cruise line will help you with customs clearance, it's always wise to keep your travel documents with you.

Brian James is the President of All Aboard Cruises Corp Caribbean Cruises
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053452346017449927.post-87143962629937731442007-06-04T12:35:00.000-07:002007-06-04T12:37:14.334-07:00Hilton Head Vacation Rentals
Hospitable to all of our visitors, rental agencies on Hilton Head Island will take care of all your vacation needs, both foreseen and unanticipated. Originally, he bought the land adjacent to his house to build a small business on, but later changed his mind for reasons that aren't completely clear.

In 1980, 22 Houston citizens formed a non-profit organization to purchase, preserve and maintain McCissack's monument for the public to be able to continue to enjoy it, and to use as a staging point for a variety of cultural activities.

You can visit the Orange Show Monument every weekend from mid-March to mid-December between 12 and 5 p.m. Weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. are maintained from Labor Day to Memorial Day.

Your first reaction will likely be one of either amusement, amazement, or disbelief when you're greeted by the site of this multi-tiered structure fashioned from a variety of materials including brick, wagon wheels, colored tiles, and any number of any junk items.

Hand-crafted signs greet you at every turn. All of them bear witness to McCissack's belief that hard work, good nutrition, and lots of oranges made for a long and healthy life. Those signs are punctuated by a variety of pieces including animals, people, and familiar characters all crafted from junk.

An amphitheater crafted from, among other things, old tractor seats plays host to a variety of "off the beaten track" cultural events. Other nifty features include a wishing well, a pond, and an oasis.

No good tourist attraction would be complete without a gift shop. After all your vacations are far and few between and it is nice to look back on those memories as you slave away at your job. However, when you travel with a digital camera, it is a completely different experience from that of traveling with a film camera. This is a lesson that far too many travelers seem to be learning the hard way, especially if you’re traveling to Europe. After a couples years of relying solely on digital for taking photos when I travel, there are things you should consider before you head off on your next trip.

Charging Batteries is one of the biggest stumbling blocks you'll face when you travel. Outlets can be scarce in hotels. On a recent trip to Europe, only one of the five modern hotels I stayed in had more than one outlet available for use when charging up electronics. Charging your battery can be more of a hassle if you're traveling by train: If you take an overnight train in Europe, they don't have power adapters at the seats (certain trains do, but it's not something you can count on). I suggest bringing at least two rechargeable batteries, three if you plan to travel with overnight trains, or don't think you'll be able to charge every night. If your camera uses regular AA batteries, consider yourself lucky-you'll find those everywhere. Scope out the situation in your room when you check in: You should get at least one usable outlet, but don't count on more than that.

Bring your plugs. Some digital cameras typically come with a power brick that can handle international voltages, so you won't need a voltage adapter. However, you will need a power plug adapter to convert a US outlet plug to the local plug. Most of Europe is on the same outlet now-but not all countries accept the general "Europe" plug. Be sure to research what you'll need to jack in, and try to buy it before you leave (try CompUSA, Radio Shack, Rand McNally, or your local luggage store). If you don't have a chance to get what you need Stateside, don't fret: You should have no trouble finding an outlet converter overseas.

How do I offload my images? For fellow travelers using digicams, this was the number one problem I have heard repeatedly. Many comments from folks traveling for a week or more are: "I'm taking more pictures than I expected to." "I'm not shooting at the best resolution, because I need the room on my memory card." "I'm only halfway through my trip, and I have only 50 shots left." When you travel, odds are you'll take more pictures than you expect to also. A 1 GB card is very useful, and should suffice for low-usage shooters. But for those of us, who can go through a gigabyte or more in a day, not a week? Whether it's because your a high-volume shooter, shooting in RAW format, or a combination of the two. What I discovered is many who had digital SLRs, that had 5 megapixel or more reported they were traveling with a laptop to off load their images. None of these folks were traveling on business, so they didn't need to bring a laptop along. The sad fact is, for now, a laptop remains the most efficient and usable means of off loading images. Epson and Nikon have dedicated handheld units with a hard drive, card reader, and LCD display for copying over and viewing your images. But neither has a full-blown keyboard. If you're first buying a laptop, and intend to travel with it, I suggest going for the smallest one you can. Fujitsu, Panasonic, Sharp, and Sony all have models under four pounds. A laptop provides several additional advantages. For one thing, you can see your pictures on a big screen-to view how you're doing, and if you see any problems you want to correct with your exposure, for example, or if your pictures are being affected by dirt. For another thing, you can properly label your folders, so you know which pictures were taken where. Most newer laptops have integrated memory card readers, but otherwise, you can buy a small external card reader. For the wire-free approach, use a PC Card slot adapter for your memory card; and invest in a 32-bit Cardbus adapter (Delkin and Lexar Media offer these), for speedier transfers. Nothing's worse than coming back to the hotel after a long day of sightseeing, and needing to stay awake another 40 minutes just to off -load two 1 GB cards, at about 20 minutes a pop. If you bring a laptop, I also suggest investing in a portable hard drive. A portable hard drive can serve multiple purposes: It can be a means of backing up your photos on the go; a means of giving you a way to take your photos with you if you have to leave your laptop unattended; and a means of expansion, if you somehow manage to fill up your laptop's built-in hard disk. If you don't want to bring a laptop, and already have an Apple iPod, Belkin sells an attachment for using your iPod with memory cards; or, consider the pricey units from Nikon and Epson. And if you're in a bind, remember you can always buy memory overseas. I was surprised that when I went to Europe, the prices were high, but not so outrageously so that I wouldn't buy another card if I were in a bind. Cards were more readily available, too, than they were when I last traveled through Europe three years ago. Look at it this way: Even if you overpay on the card, you can still reuse it-which beats overpaying for a single use 35mm film cartridge when you were in a bind in years' past.

Be prepared for problems. Things happen when you travel and I've had more things go awry carrying my digital SLR than I have had with my 35mm over the years. Lens paper is always useful to have on hand, but if you have a digital SLR, another supply is absolutely critical: An air blower bulb, to blast out the dust and dirt that will inevitably get trapped inside your camera. I never had problems with my 35mm SLR, but with my digital SLR, I constantly find dirt gets trapped inside, when I change lenses. And there's nothing worse than having a splotch marring your otherwise awesome shots. Finally, remember the philosophy of redundancy. Whether your battery dies and you have no way to charge it, or you run out of space on your memory card(s), and don't want to buy another at a higher-than-usual price, I suggest packing a second camera if you can. A digital point and shoot is a good option but I usually carry a point and shoot 35mm to use if I run into any problems just so I won’t lose any precious pictures.

About The Author

Doug Rogers has worked as a freelance photographer for the past 25 years in various fields of photography. A great way to really see the island is to fly there and rent one of the St. Thomas Villas. Vacationing in a villa can be a really great experience.

Vacation villas can really be inexpensive for a group of couples. Villas range from $3000-$10000 per week but if you have a group of 8-10 it can be a very reasonable price for a top shelf luxury vacation. Most St Thomas condos have private pools, hot tubs and beautiful furnishings. They also have big gourmet kitchens, computers, wifi, beaches and more.

Villa rental can also be fantastic for families. They give you the room you need as well as the privacy. That's really the big advantage to consider, the privacy. You have your own home for 7 nights. No sharing anything with anyone. That's a great added bonus while on vacation.

You can also go food shopping and cook your own meals. This is a great way to save some money while on vacation. Going to dinner 6 nights in a week can be very expensive. So villa rental gives you the best of both worlds. Cook in when you want and go out to dinner a few nights. This works especially well for breakfast and lunch. Nothing beats a cheeseburger by your own private pool.

A second way to travel to the US Virgin Islands is to fly and stay at a hotel. This is a great option for a couple as the room rates are reasonable and villa rental can be expensive for only a couple. There is a wide variety of hotels in St Thomas, ranging from the very expensive to the very inexpensive. You may want to consider a property on a beach or on a hilltop depending on the style of vacation you'd like to take.

Hotels are nice if you like to meet and be surrounded by other people. It's very nice to make new friends while on vacation. Sometimes those new friendships can last a lifetime. The flip side to that is you may have to put up with a lot of screaming kids while on your relaxing vacation. Are you okay with little Johnny from Minnesota yelling that his sister took is toy?

Most vacation on cruise ships and stop in downtown. It's interesting to see the tourists pour off the cruise ships and rush to the t-shirt stands. They seem to love to buy a lot of "stuff".

St Thomas receives 2-7 cruise ships per day. So at any time there could be 7000-30000 people being offloaded into the total population of 50000. That's a lot to consider when traveling to St Thomas.

There is a lot of traffic in St Thomas. Locals have a hard time driving through downtown because of all the cruise ship passengers. Believe it or not it could potentially take you an hour from going back and forth across the island. That's a long drive for an island 4 miles wide by 10 miles long.

A cruise vacation to St. Thomas is a great way to go if you only want to see a few things in St Thomas but you'll certainly miss a lot of other great activities and culture.

Some of the sights to see in St Thomas is Magens Bay. This beach is consistently listed as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. It's a mile long white sandy beach with lots of great trees for shade. It has one restaurant and bar and a lot of lifeguards. The water is always calm and flat which make it great for swimming. Locals go there every Sunday to celebrate with their friends and family. It is a great beach to visit.

Shopping is terrific on the island. You can get great deals on jewelry and clothing. Plus you won't have to pay any tax. That's great if you're buying an expensive piece of jewelry for sure. The booze on the island is very inexpensive as well. So stock up on your rum.

My favorite way to travel is to research St Thomas Villas and book one that meets my needs. Personally I think that having your own private place is the way to go. You get all the benefits of luxury without having to share it with hundreds of strangers. It's always a relaxing, quiet vacation that you control. Look around for the right house for your needs via the internet. There you can find all the options you want and budgets that you can afford.

About the Author
Villa Nicoletta is luxury St Thomas Villas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053452346017449927.post-81258174502633179982007-05-15T13:20:00.000-07:002007-06-04T13:22:25.589-07:00Types and Features of the Yacht Charter Boat
When looking for a different spin on the family reunion or the perfect way to entertain co-workers on a business outing, yacht charters are a great way to plan a unique getaway. While the act of renting a yacht is often reserved for personal rendezvous' and family adventures, there are plenty of advantages to planning a corporate event through this relaxing method, such as creating strong ties with clients or strengthening employer-employee relationships.

Caribbean Yacht chartering involves the renting or chartering of a motor yacht or sailboat with the purpose of traveling about coastal or other island locations. Over the years, the act has become an increasingly popular method of seeing the world while enjoying a nice journey spread across calming water.

Two Different Kinds of Charter

When chartering a yacht, you should know there are two main types to consider - bareboat and crewed. With a bareboat charter, an individual or group rents a boat and then guides the trip on his or her own accord. For the less experienced, numerous bareboat companies provide the teaching of basic seaman skills that aids interested parties.

A crewed charter involves a yacht that already comes with a crew. Depending on your needs, this type of charter may provide the assistance of a duo (such as a husband-wife team) that serves as captain or may utilize the help of a several different crew members, such as a chef, engineer, deckhands, and possibly even a scuba dive expert.

Caribbean Yacht Charter Factors

After you have decided the purpose of your yacht charter, many different factors will affect the way you approach planning a trip. For some, there are limitations to how much money will be spent or the size of yacht needed. Smaller excursions work well with a boat measuring 35 to 40 feet, while larger parties need boats around 300 feet. The age and pedigree of a boat is important as well. Usually, a younger boat provides a stronger sense of safety.

Also, if you haven't decided yet, the most important part of planning a yacht charter is where you will go. The destination will also play a significant role as to what kinds of yacht charters will be available to accommodate your trip goals. Some people will spend up to $25,000 per person for a week on a luxury yacht charter, while others keep their budget below $1000.

How to Secure a Caribbean Yacht Charter

Most people looking to plan a vacation or outing by chartering a yacht usually have a specific destination already planted in their head. Some individuals may also base their trip on price or availability of charters, meaning they are limited to some of the locations they can visit. The world is filled with plenty of international opportunities to explore, including the heat of Mexico to the biting temperatures of Antarctica.

European travel are also quite popular, as Belgium, Poland, Finland, and France all offer yacht charter services. Islands, such as Barbados and Fiji welcome travelers with open arms, while old standbys, such as Canada provide intriguing voyages as well.. Additional destinations to consider include Madagascar, Argentina, Australia, Slovenia, and the Dominican Republic.

Finding suitable yacht charter companies are quite easy. While many people rely on travel agents to point them in the right direction, there are tons of options decorating the Internet with ample details on some of the most popular yacht charters.

Let's say you are interested in yacht charters offered in the Guadaloupe area. Completing a specific search for the destination or searching a database situated on a yacht charter-related website should reveal that there are several different companies scattered about the archipelago. Currently, the most yacht charters are offered in St. Martin with more than ten choices.

For instance, the Northern Child Swan Yacht Charter promotes corporate events, cruising and racing charters throughout the United Kingdom during the summer season and about the Caribbean when the winter months arrive. This particular selection features the assistance of two professional crew members, a skipper and a captain. Luxury boats are also popular, as they are known to accommodate wedding receptions or take honeymooning couples off into the sunset. In St. Martin, Sunreef Yachts provides these kind of custom-made beauties.

To experience the delight of chartering a yacht, planning ahead of time also helps to secure the best deals and make sure you have ample time to make proper travel arrangements if enjoying an international adventure. Search Google ("cheap airfare south america", for example), or try the well-known sites, like Expedia, Travelocity, Cheap Tickets, Hotwire or Priceline.

Just now I checked fares from Tucson, Arizona to Traverse City, Michigan on the five sites mentioned above. The cheapest quotes ranged from $704 to $432. Nevermind which was cheapest (oh, okay, it was Expedia), because you never know from day to day which sites will find the cheapest flights.

Check at least three places. In this case, it would mean a savings of $272. The flight durations are within minutes of each other, by the way, and the food is probably equally bad on all the flights.

Flexibility For Even Cheaper Airfare

The more flexible you are, the better your chance of getting a really cheap plane tickets. Try different departure and return dates if you can. Check the box "2 or more connecting flights". Mark the "anytime" departure, even if you don't want to leave at midnight - the savings might change your mind. Try all the options. If the savings aren't enough, you can always book first class, direct flights, or whatever you prefer.

Really Cheap Plane Tickets - More Ways

You can buy two tickets. The cheapest airfare from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Tucson, Arizona costs $451 roundtrip right now. Las Vegas to Tucson is only $161, however, and there are regular $199 specials to Vegas from Grand Rapids. It's up to you whether saving $91 is worth booking two flights. (It saved us over $1000 when we went to South America.) There is the problem of whether you'll get a refund if your timing is off on the connections (you probably won't).

Check for package deals, where you pay for plane tickets and your hotel room. I haven't had much luck with these deals, but it can't hurt to look at them.

Buying ahead of time gets you cheaper plane tickets. Any thing less than a week away tends to be expensive, although you never can tell in the mysterious realm of airfare pricing. Sometimes the "last minute specials" are the best thing going.

Priceline still has their "Name Your Own Price" feature. Make your bid, and the airlines say yes or no, depending on whether they have empty seats to fill. First search for the cheapest tickets you can find, then bid lower than that. If your bid is rejected, you can return to the website where you found the best deal and book it.

If You're Really Cheap

My wife and I once took a bus from Michigan to Miami, and flew from there to Ecuador. For us at that time, saving a couple hundred dollars was worth 38 hours on a bus. This won't save you much on domestic flights. Right now, for example, taking a bus from Traverse City to Detroit, then flying to Los Angeles, would only save about $70 (allowing for cab fare to the airport) over flying directly.

There are other options beyond the scope of this article. Courier flights, for example, can be a great deal if you don't mind letting a company use your baggage allowance (you get carry-on only). There are also stand-by deals and last minute deals and other ways to get really cheap plane tickets. Good luck!

Steve Gillman hit the road at sixteen, and traveled the U.S. and Mexico alone at 17. Now 40, he travels with his wife Ana, whom he met in Ecuador. The bank charged me $8. During the same trip, I used my debit card at an ATM to get $200 from my checking account. Once home, I saw that the charge for this was one dollar, and that was the last time I used traveler's checks.

Debit And Credit Cards When Traveling

I usually carry a debit card and a credit card when I travel now. I keep them well-hidden in two separate places. If they are stolen, which has never happened yet, they have either zero liability, or a fifty dollar liability limit for any unauthorized charges. Ask your bank or credit card company about this.

When an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) won't take one of the cards for some reason - and this will happen - I use the other card, which usually works fine. Credit cards may be less trouble than debit cards. Your liability could be zero on your stolen debit card, but you probably won't have access to your account until the matter is sorted out.

Of course, on longer trips it's a hassle to pay the credit card bill on time, which isn't a problem with debit cards. Carry both, and on longer trips you can wait until you're a few weeks from home to use the credit card. That way you'll get there before the bill does.

An important advantage credit and debit cards have over travelers checks, is that when you need the local currency, you'll almost always get a better exchange rate with your cards. Also, the cash you get from the local ATM will truly be accepted everywhere, something even American Express Travelers Checks can't promise.

I have nothing against American Express. Once, when I was robbed in Mexico, they quickly and curtiously replaced my stolen traveler's checks. Also, at times it is appropriate to carry money in several forms, including theirs. However, times change and ATMs are everywhere now, so my policy is : Travelers checks; don't leave home with them. You can take an American Express credit card instead.

Steve Gillman hit the road at sixteen, and traveled the U.S. and Mexico alone at 17. Among its varied pleasures and activities, a little exploration will turn up a historical oddity or two that add to the individual character of the place. Beautiful beaches in natural settings welcome the nature lover and peace seeker alike.

The Hermitage is a bit of an historical oddity, fascinating and strange. The hike up to see this religious site will take visitors through small villages along beautiful trails, full of island flora and fauna. It is located at the top of Mt. Alvernia, which is 206 feet above the sea and the highest point in the Bahamas. The Hermitage itself is made from the limestone of the cliffs, with each piece painstakingly extracted, shaped and set by hand by the Canadian mule-skinner turned Anglican turned Roman Catholic priest known as Father Jerome. The Father built the structure to scale, designed it to fit his rather diminutive form. Beloved by the island people, the priest passed away in 1956 after reaching the ripe age of 80.

Other historical sites include an Arawak cave, found at Columbus point, and plantation ruins, left over from the islands efforts at joining the worlds cotton growers. Deveaux mansion was once the residence of Andrew Deveaux of the US Navy, who participated in the 1873 battles to get Nassau back from Spain. Another well known ruins is the remains of the Ambrister plantation, near Port Howe.

For those interested in water sports, the Cat Island Dive Center is the place to contact. They operate out of the Greenwood Beach Resort and have a variety of diving and snorkeling packages available, and there are many fine areas to explore, offering a wealth of marine life and fascinating geological formations. They also have water sport equipment to rent.

Cat Island is the sixth largest island in the Bahamas, and boasts extraordinary beaches. There are literally miles and miles of virtually undisturbed beaches, where swimming and relaxing can be done in near complete privacy.

Fine meals can be had at several locations on Cat Island. Hawk’s Nest Resort and Marina serves a variety of dishes, but among the best are the fresh, grilled fish and the roasted rack of lamb. Fernandez Bay Village is the place to go for creative and delicious native dishes, served either in the dining room or a patio table by the beach. Greenwood Beach Resort’s Bahamian cuisine is complemented by their marvelous breads, which are baked every day.

Cat Island is an excellent choice for vacationers who are seeking a natural beach experience, and enjoy a peaceful and very laid-back atmosphere. The island can be explored at a leisurely pace, which is a much better way to enjoy the local flora and fauna, as well as to enjoy the local culture. Because it is so much smaller in population than many of the other islands, it’s easier to get a real feel for the people and their way of life. Cat Island is an interesting place that will make a lasting impression on its guests.

About the Author: This article provided courtesy of http://www.bahamas-holiday-guide.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053452346017449927.post-22563188673551619272007-01-04T13:12:00.000-08:002007-06-04T13:15:30.741-07:00All Inclusive Caribbean Resort - The Luxurious Holiday Package
As a vacationer, you are always looking for the best deal out there. Bermuda lies much further to the north in the Atlantic Ocean and is sometimes included in the West Indies. Geopolitically, the West Indies are organized into 28 territories including sovereign states, overseas departments, and dependencies. At one time, there was a short-lived country called the Federation of the West Indies composed of ten English-speaking Caribbean territories.

1. Punta Cana weather is one of the most attractive features of this vacation spot. The temperature and maritime conditions on Punta Cana are perfect to practice water sports and to enjoy comfortable time there. Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic offers tropical weather during the whole year. Like in most tropical areas the weather seasons are divided between summer and winter. The term winter here is a bit loose since there are no extreme cold conditions like in some other places around the world.

The weather in Punta Cana during the seasons doesn't vary drastically. The summer time ranges from May to October, and it gets a temperature of approximately 31°C and 22°C during day and night respectively. During summer the humidity can be quite high, raising the feeling of the temperature to a couple of more degrees. The mountains in Dominican Republic are a way cooler environment than the coast where the max temperature can go up to 16°C and to 40°C in the deserted areas in the southwest. The rain in Punta Cana take place mostly in the summer time but even then the showers are quite short and last a couple of minutes which is another advantage for spending a vacation there. Some thunderstorms can happen during this time of the year producing large amounts of rain, but these are very seldom and produced by severe weather systems.

The Punta Cana weather provides a winter where the temperature range is from 29°C to 20°C. The humidity during this time of the year that goes from November to April is very low. That means very low chance of rain and very mild temperatures. The reigning blue skies and shining sun make this one the favorite times of the year for vacationing in Punta Cana. Since Punta Cana is located in the eastern coast the weather, there is mostly hot even in the colder months but the typical difference of two or three degrees from summer is quite worth it.

The hurricanes that can develop in the Caribbean are a major point of consideration when thinking of vacationing here. These powerful storms appear during the hurricane season that goes from June to November but typically the months of greater risk for the area of Punta Cana are August, September and October. The hurricanes that affect the area usually have a hit rate lower than one per year, so as long you keep an eye on the weather reports you can vacation there even during the summer. Weather in Punta Cana can be tricky but one of the best tips for going there is to use winter time to avoid any hurricane risk and to have a very comfortable temperature.

About the Author

The author is a contributor to the website puntacana-travelguide.com

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7053452346017449927.post-7540915768832209672006-06-04T13:22:00.000-07:002007-06-04T13:23:16.701-07:00Finding the Best Cruise Ship for Your Vacation
Now that you have figured out that you would like to spend your vacation on a cruise, you have to decide which one is ideal for you. The choices can be overwhelming, so be aware of some guidelines that will point you in the right direction.

Deciding how much time you have is a good first step. Although there are boat trips that you could take on a long weekend, they will only stop at one or maybe two ports of call. Though they are inexpensive, the people on board will probably be youngsters who are there to party. This goes for week-long tours also. Cruises that last longer than seven days will stop in many exciting places such as Benidorm and Alicante, and you will probably be with a less excitable crowd. The downside to extended boat travel is that such a journey requires plenty of time and money. If you want to visit a distant land but running short on time, you can always fly down to where your ship departs and join the ship there.

As far as cost, knowing your budget is another factor that will narrow your search. There is a large price range when searching for cruises but talk to a travel agent or do some research online where you may find a great deal. Before you commit to anything, though, make sure that you know the entire cost of the trip including cancellation insurance and port charges. Also remember that not all cruise ships are created equal. Check travel sites or magazines for reviews or talk to your travel agent to get some get a feel for different lines.

The time of year you are vacationing, the activities you would like to do on your trip and, importantly, what ports you stop at are all things to bear in mind. If you would like to cruise around Europe or Alaska, you will have to wait until summer. Cruises that take you closer to the equator, such as Mexico and the Caribbean, are most widely available in the winter months. Watch out for hurricane season, though.

Once you have sorted out where you want to go, how long you want to be there and what your budget is, there are still more decisions to be made. For instance, you would like to cruise the Caribbean, and you have the option to travel East or West. If you decide that east is your direction, you will probably depart from Florida and spend less time on the ship. Because these cruises tend to stop at more islands, if you would like to spend your vacation shopping with plenty of time on the beach the East is probably for you. On the other hand, cruises headed west might start in Louisiana, Texas or Florida and travel to ports located father apart from one another, such as Jamaica and Cozumel. You will spend more time on boat travel, but your activities will be more varied. You have plenty of choices! When making your final decision, remember that there is no reason to settle for a cruise that doesn't thrill you.

About the Author

Greg Hansward very often produces newsletters on news associated with Torrevieja and Benidorm. It follows mostly Route 12 south from Montpelier to Woodstock, before heading north on Route 100 and 100B back to Montpelier. There's a whole bunch of surprises on the way, but it's no surprise you'll experience some magnificent fall foliage views all along this scenic drive.

The tour is best done over the course of a weekend or several days, although it's possible to do the drive in one day and forgo many of the attractions and rambles suggested.

Let's get going...

Start from Montpelier, a small city on the northern fringe of central Vermont. Montpelier can be easily reached from Interstate 89. Montpelier is 182 miles from Boston and 198 miles from Hartford.

Take Route 12 out of Montpelier and head south to Northfield Falls. Northfield Falls has four covered bridges and the famous Falls General Store. Vermont has some of the finest examples of covered bridges anywhere in New England, but two of them in Northfield Falls can be seen at once, as you look through one to other. This is unique in New England and definitely worth taking the camera out to capture.

Continue on Route 12 making your way to Bethel.

Bethel is one of those Vermont towns that's a natural part of the scenery. Could this be why it's home to the White River National Fish Hatchery? The hatchery focuses on restoring Atlantic Salmon to the Connecticut River. It's open 8:00am - 3:00pm daily.

From Bethel you'll continue your last piece of the southern route to Woodstock.

The Woodstock area offers a number of attractions, including Billings Farm and Museum, and Quechee Gorge. Woodstock itself is one of those picture-perfect Vermont villages that's fun just to stroll around checking out the boutiques and restaurants.

The Billings Farm and Museum was established in 1871, and today it's a working farm, and a museum depicting farm life in the late 1800s.

Quechee Gorge is Vermont's little Grand Canyon. Not quite as big a hole in the ground as in Arizona, but at a mile long and plenty of hiking and walking trails on offer, it's a chance to stretch the legs and admire the splendid scenery. Be sure to walk to the picnic area overlooking the falls.

The next 20 miles of the scenic drive takes you cross country on Route 4 to Killington. Killington is a world famous ski area that covers six mountains. And at over 4,200' offers spectacular views from the summit. There's very few better places to appreciate the fall foliage than at the top of Killington Peak. If it's running take the K1-Gondola from base. You can ride the Gondola daily from September 24 - October 10th.

Killington is about the half-way point in this tour, and with the beautiful town of Rutland close-by plenty of lodging if you decide to linger overnight. Just be sure to make reservations during the peak fall foliage season.

The next section of the tour follows Route 100 as it borders the Green Mountain National Forest. You'll pass through the towns of Pittsfield, Hancock, Granville, and Waitsfield as you cover perhaps the most scenic views and diverse terrain you'll see on this drive.

Just North of Hancock and close to Route100 on Route 125 is Texas Falls. The trail to the falls is an easy hike and offers marvelous views anytime of the year, but especially during fall foliage season when the colors dazzle.

The larger of the two waterfalls is Moss Glen Falls just north of Granville a few miles up from Hancock. The drive from Hancock towards the falls is a two-lane winding road that passes through a seven mile stretch of untouched wilderness, and worth taking slow and easy.

The final leg of this central Vermont scenic drive from Granville to Middlesex and back to Montpelier continues to provide startling scenery and great photo opportunities. Route 100B connects with Route 100 just south of Moretown village, and you'll take 100B north to Middlesex and then join Interstate 89 for the quick hop back into Montpelier.

Vermonters quip the state really has five seasons - spring, summer, fall, winter, and the famous mud season. But my personal favorite in Vermont is the fall. Take this tour and you'll understand why.

About the Author

Look for other articles in this series of fall foliage scenic drives. If you're willing to pitch a tent, you can have a lot of fun camping free on the island of Oahu and some areas on the Big Island and Maui. What better way to experience Hawaii first-hand than by waking up to and going to sleep to the sound of the ocean or mountains?

The State of Hawaii maintains campsites on all islands. The Big Island has camping and cabin sites around the island. Camping in Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island is free with a paid entry fee to the park. Reservations are required for the cabin sites in the National Park. Kauai has several beach and mountain camping sites as well as the popular Kokee Lodge Cabins. Molokai has two state campsites, Lanai has six semi-rural campsites on the beach, and Maui has mountain and ocean campgrounds and cabins. Camping in Haleakala National Park on Maui is free with permit. Oahu has the most campsites of all the islands. Kualoa Beach Park on Oahu is popular for its hot showers, barbecue pits, and well-taken care of camping areas.

Camping permits are required for most campgrounds and camping fees range from free to less than $10 per night. Cabin rentals can start at less than $50 per night.

If sleeping on the ground doesn't interest you, but you might not mind sharing a bathroom and don't need the frills of a hotel, check out a hostel.
